People Looking Seriously at Art, and their cell phones

Agnes Martin at The Guggenheim means people are seriously looking seriously at art. And their cell phones. People really like looking at their cell phones to record the experience of looking at art instead of looking directly at the art. Maybe art is like the sun, and if you look at it directly, it will burn your retinas.

We, collectively, are so desperate to remember the experiences we’ve experienced that we barely allow ourselves the freedom to experience the experiences we go out of our way to experience.

For my part, I wanted to remember these feelings, so I photographed people feeling the feelings I was thinking about so I wouldn’t forget them.
