I’ve been thinking alot this week about an old friend. I’ve talked about her before, her name was Valerie Kojsza. She was in a relationship with our friend Chris Kelly. He wrote this poem about her. Then he crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. I pulled it out.
They’re both long gone, but we have this poem.
She is a dragon
nobody is watching
we are all the same
we’re just cartoons were you cautious
leave the paper at the door
life is clear
I sat down to write something else, but this poem was falling off my shelf so I decided it wanted to be shared. Poems are best when shared.
I always thought it said “we’re just cartoons,” but looking at it now it looks like “were you cautious,” which, no, we weren’t.
Maybe a little.
